The Creation of the Blog!

After creating the voice threads and creating the snapshots from the film of the presentation, I created the final blog. The final blog has three voice threads. There is one that shows the creation of the igenous rock. The second one shows the creation of the mediatoric rock and the third one shows the creation of the sedimentary rock. The two movie clips are taken from the overall film I recorded. I had about 45 minutes of filming. However, I ended up only using like 12 minutes of it. I chose to place just the filming of Mrs. Williams and the children explaining and dicussing the creation of the three different types of rocks. I have to upload the video to blogger because teacher tube kept saying that the video was in the wrong format. Then I created voice threads of the three parts of the presentation to create each type of rocks. After the creation of the blog, I sent Mrs. Williams the link to the blog and asked her to send me her comments in case I need to change anything.

Filming the the Rock Cycle Presentation!

I got to film the wonderful Mrs. Williams doing a presentation on the rock cycle at the CCMS. I was amazed on how much the students wanted to know as well as the students already knew. I even left the presentation learning a lot of new information. For example, I learned how all the rocks are created and how they change from different type to different types. I saw the presentation twice. The first time I took notes about the presentation. During the second presentation, I filmed it.

CCMS Tour!

I did not get to take a tour with the group. However, I got a glimse of the school when I was there to film Mrs. Dedire Williams as she gave presentation about the rock cycle. The school was very quiet and calm. The children were very well behaved. Another thing I noticed was how excited the children were about learning. I found out that the children have a week long sheet of work that they must complete before the week is over. Another thing I relaized even in the presentation is that all of the extra activities happen during the afternoon. I also relaized how advanced the children are in their overall learning.

This is my spread sheet.
This week was really interesting. I really enjoyed thinking about ways to use this in the classroom. This is a great way to keep all things organized from field trip money to grades in any classroom. The formulas also make the organization easy to because you can make graph if needed in a presentation. There are many project oppurnities from this program.
For example,you can ask
--How do you input the information into the computer?
--Then how do you take that information and make a chart or graph out of it?
--and What kind of formulas are needed to make the information easier to fill out?

This week was really fun. I learned a lot about different technologies that would help in my future classroom.I enjoyed the ability to place different information in a video and then be able to show it off. This would be really easy in different classrooms. For example, it can be used to simply the information on any certain subject. For example, you could have students do this as a book report, instead of the traditional hand written one. This was a interesting tool, to me for many reasons. For example, you can create fun and interesting slide shows on all different topics.

This was very interesting week. Movie Maker was very interesting. You could create many different types of presentations for it. It was fairly easy to use. You can have transitions for each slide. You can also have the text come in a different times and at different speeds. There was also a variety of colors and different fonts you can use for the text. The big issue was me not putting to many different effects in my powerpoint. However, over all it was really fun and helpful tool.

Digital Storytelling: Part Two

The Digital Storytelling is a very exciting tool for teachers to use in the classroom. The online reading that we had to do was very helpful, and it explained everything very well. I learned that the presentations of Digital Storytelling can be three different types "1) personal narratives - stories that contain
accounts of significant incidents in one’s life; 2) historical documentaries – stories that examine dramatic events that help us understand the past, and 3) stories designed to inform or instruct the viewer on a particular concept or practice."
.
Digital Storytelling is a very interesting tool that can be used to create many different projects at almost any grade level. This can also be used for teachers to show different types of lessons to students.
For example, in my project:
The point of view--I believe that technology and its helpful and can be used for children at all grade levels
A Dramatic Question: This could be how exactally can technology be used to for all different grade levels
Emotional Content:this part i am still wondering about, but it could have something to do with how some schools have less then good working computers for children.
The Gift Of Your Voice:I could do a section of narration and explaining what i am video taping of the computers and explaining the need for technology in students classrooms.
The Power Of The Soundtrack: Music is very important, if it too distracting then it takes away from the presentation
Ecomony: This is where I can review who the students need different types of technology in the classroom to enhance the learning
Pacing: This is important so the presentation slides are not to fast or to slow
**the above qoute was taken from the class reading

Digital Storytelling!

Digital storytelling is very important. It allows people to connect to difference stories and experiences through their life. For example, I created my powerpoint was about the uses of technology of the children of today. Children of today are connected online all the time wether it be from their house, school or even their cell phones.
Digital Storytelling allows the individuals to connect and retell the same story to groups of people through things like the internet. It also allows the past to come alive for people of this generation. You can see many different types of clothing, houses and even transporation thorough different websites. Digital Storytelling could also allow students to create projects about many different topics. This could then be posted online to be able to reach other people around the world.
Voice thread is a very helpful tool. It allows students to make a memories a story for all different types of people. For example if a presentation is creating over someone getting their first haircut or a job promotion. This can then be uploaded to the internet where the relatives in different parts of the country or the world can see what is going on. Voice thread actually can work well with things like meeting. This is helpful for the people who are out of town or even out of the country. They can record voice comments as well as type in comments about the individual topic. This could also be useful for teachers. For example, if you miss the meeting you can go and see a recap of happen through the Voice Thread and even lead comments. This also helps parents because it allows them to see exactally what the students on a participular topic.
Slide Cast is also very helpful. It allows a student to create a powerpoint. Then add music to the presentation and then post it online for the world to see. For example if a group decided they were going to do a project on a certain baseball team, they could viturally complete a almost all online project. The research could all be done online, then the powerpoint could be created and then the project could be uploaded to the website (http://www.slideshare.net/jboutelle/slidecasting-101). This website is the site that shows you how to create a uploaded presentation. Slide cast is also a new and exciting way to see how the technology is used in the classroom. For example projects can also be created for and from the website. For example, the groups can create a powerpoint presentation on a certain NFL football team. Then after than add the music, and uploaded it the class, the teachers and the parents could all view it.

Internet Resources!

How might any of the following technologies enhance your students' learning in your unit?
What resources and instruction will you need to provide students to ensure that their use of the Internet enhances their learning?

Technology is very helpful in today's society. It helps create a link for children, as well as expanding they outlook on many different activities. It creates a new and different way to collect information on a variety of topics. For example bugs to computers to music. I can also use technlogy to create new ways to turn in the websites for example from Google Docs or Blogger. This is also a good way for students to stay in contact with their teachers, it allows the students to email the teachers with questions about a participular assignments. This is also helpful with the project and inquiry based learning. For inquiry based learning it allows the students to complete the research on a participular topic. Many different websites have examples for students to go and see for the creation of projects as wells information to put on the board or whatever the case may be.
Teachers can also the internet to talk with other teachers in the same field you can send emails to each other or leaving comments on a participular website link a blog. This is allows the students to post information on the website because it gives them a place to contain the information. Technology can make students excited about learning and when learning is fun students can not wait to learn.

Interenet Search Engines:
The search engines are helpful because they can take a board topic and point the students the right direction on the participular topic. For example, if the student puts in a search topic like butterflies, it comes up with information about the life span and different pictures of butterflies. The instruction part comes in when the teacher could create a worksheet with question about a participular topic and therefore the student look online for the answers to the questions. This way students learn how to "surf" the web to look for a certain piece of information.

Blogs:
Blogging is very helpful. It allows people to stay connected and up to date with what is going on. For example if a group of teachers set up a blogging website about a teaching topic the other teachers could go in an comment. This could also helpful for students because it gives them a place to attach their assignments. It also is a place where children who are sick on a certian day can go and see what they did a given day. This also would be a good idea for parents. It would allow them to see what their child is doing on a given day.

Technology is very helpful tool for the classroom it creates a connection between today's children and the information on a certain topic. It also creates a link between what the students are doing in a classroom, so their parents can see it through things like blogging websites.

Blogging In My Future Classroom!

Blogging in a essential tool for can help in the teaching process. I can use with my elementary school students, teachers, and even the parents. It gives me a oppurnity to reach out to the students and allow then to interact with each other. This can help by eliminating some of the paper work in group projects. For example, during the research part of the project, the students can blog the information that they found to each other. Also creating a group blog at the final project could make a interesting project as well. It is something different from the traditional power points and poster boards. Creating a class blog also help let the parents know what is going on anything of the day. For example, putting up a weekly schedulce allows the parents to know what their child is doing fthrough the week. It can also be helpful with the making of appointments for doctors and dentists. It would also be a place for link for the parents to look at the students work on things like past projects. Blogging for the teachers in schools is also very helpful. It could allow the teachers to trade ideas and give informaiton about what is going on in each other's class room. For example, if a particular teacher has a new exciting way to learn addition, she can blog about it. This is helpful because then more teachers would be able to use the new teaching tool.
Blogging is something that must people do on many different popular webiste. The thing is aomw people do not relaize they are doing it. The website,
http://davidwarlick.com/2cents/, talks about the same thing. Blogging is helpful, it lets students express themselves in a different way. It takes allowing the students to talk about what is going on in their lives to having a particular place to lay out all their taughts.

Inquiry and Project Based Learning

Inquiry based learning is one of the two major ways of teaching. During this process it is the teacher's job to bring out the knowledge of the new topic into the light. It begins with the child being interested in a certain subject. This can be anything from dogs, bugs to computers. Inquiry-Based learning is taking a question and then exploring the options for answers to the project. For example if a child is interested in a particular subject they can start with that. About forming a question about a particular subject, i.e. what makes a certain animal run fast, they conduct research to find the answer to the particular question. After the research is completed the students then produce a assignment with the answer to the particular question.
Project based learning is another way of learning for children. The teacher's job is the to create a project that the students can produce and learn a lot in the way. For example, you take what the students are interested in and then create the project. The board topic is helpful for this particular idea. The children start out with a wide question or taught and then take it down to something smaller. Like the Inquiry-Based learning, Project-Based Learning can be on any kind of topic. It can be from bugs to computers. Project based learning takes the information that the students learn and take the information to create something. For example, you can create a story book or a PowerPoint. This is also helpful for answering a particular question.
